People are Obsessed With this Avocado Tool

June 24, 2019

We have reached Peak Avocado, folks. There’s avocado dye, avocado tattoos, and even an avocado hotel.

Avocados are also getting pretty expensive, thanks to increased demand and a smaller-than-usual California crop this year. That’s why you want to make every bit count, and not leave anything behind.

If you love guacamole, you probably have your attack-the-avocado technique down pat. Maybe you break out the chef’s knife and carefully thwack the pit, twisting it out. Then you pick up a smaller knife, carving a grid into the avocado half. Finally, pick up a spoon and carve out the flesh, but carefully, lest you spoon tit onto the floor.

Consider this. You could do other things with your spare time, and just break out this all-in-one gadget for which avocado aficionados are going gaga. (One California native raves, “Va-voom…it is GREAT!”) It’s an avocado cuber, and it does exactly what you’d think. Just press and twist it, and voil, you have cubes for your guacamole, salsa, tacos, enchiladas, and anything else you have that requires green gold as soon as possible. As another 5-star review titled “I LOVE THIS THING” effuses, “I don’t know how I ever lived without it.”

If you’re the sort of person who likes to waltz into the break room with a salad looking like you bought it from a fancy shop (or you just like to have an Instagrammable home lunch), this tool is key. As another 5-star reviewer (there are many) declares, “I love to make salads with avocado but cutting it into bite size chunks is both messy and sometimes unsafe (have cut my hands more than once.)” Now that she owns the Cuber, “I now go through five avocados a week at least as it is so easy to get them out of the skin.”

Don’t take our word for it. Let all the 5-star reviews guide you down the verdant, avocado-paved path. “It lives up to the hype,” and most importantly, “cleanup is a breeze.” Enough said.
